As part of efforts to ensure a good and cordial relationship with her sister branches, Eket Branch of the Nigerian Society of Engineers engaged Uyo Branch in a Novelty match that took place on Saturday, 15th June 2019 at Pegasus School, Eket. The match, which ended in favor of the visitors by 2-0, was scheduled as part of the activities that flagged off the host’s annual Engineering week.

The Chairman of Eket Branch, Engr. Aniebiet Udoh was among the eleven starters for the host, who were coached by Engr. Wale Olanrewaju, MNSE (the Financial Secretary of the Branch). Other notable names were: Engr. Ndifreke Etewo, MNSE; Mr. Lawrence Akubue, MNSE; Mr. Emmanuel Sam, MNSE among others.

The match started at about 10 am and lasted 30minutes for each half. At the end of the first half, the visitors were already two goals up and went into the break as deserved leaders. They created a number of clear-cut opportunities and were only unlucky not have scored a quadruple of goals in the opening half.

The second half commenced, with the host looking more coordinated and determined to get something out of the game but the damage had already been done in the first half. They hoped to bag a consolation goal for the efforts, but sadly that didn’t happen as the visitors remained solid to secure the win. The match ended 2-0 with the host losing out to their Uyo counterpart. The two teams exchanged pleasantries after the blast of the final whistle in a show of sportsmanship and cordiality.

The host Chairman and his excos congratulated the Uyo Branch and the two teams posed for a post-match photograph.
