NSE EKET BRANCH HOLDS ANNUAL SECONDARY SCHOOL ESSAY AND QUIZ COMPETITION

As part of her 2019 Engineering week activities, the Nigerian Society of Engineers, Eket branch successfully conducted the 2nd edition of her Annual Secondary School Essay and Quiz Competition on Tuesday June 18th 2019 at the Villa Marina Hotel, Eket. 

The topic of this edition’s essay was “ The Role of Innovation in Sustainable Development and Economic Growth in Akwa Ibom State.“ The students were also tested on other subjects that includes: Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Computer Science. The competition commenced at 10 am with the arrival of the contestants, which were drawn from 14 private and public Secondary schools within Eket and environs. The competition, which lasted about 1 hour and 30 minutes, was supervised by Miss Oyedoyin Ajani; Mr. Emmanuel Sam, MNSE; Mr. Lawrence Akubue, MNSE and Mr. Ugochukwu Mberede. A total number of 36 participants from 14 schools took part in the exercise. 

Master Bethel Nkereuwem Bassey, representing All Weather Schools, Eket emerged winner of the competition, winning for himself a Mini Laptop after amassing a total score of 73. Two students from Divine Seeds High School in Eket, Master Edoho Joel Samuel and Master Ekanem Joshua Ekanem finished runner-up and second runner-up respectively. They finished with the total scores of 70.75 and 70.5. The second prize was a Phone Tablet & a school bag and the third prize was a school bag filled with a Scrabble set, calculator and other educational materials.
