REPORT – NSE EKET BRANCH DECEMBER 2018 GENERAL MEETING

NSE Eket branch held its general meeting for the month of December on 15th December 2018 in the Jacob hall of the Villa Marina Hotel, Eket. The meeting started at  about 3:45pm with the national anthem.
Engr. Hassan Natala MNSE, who stood in for the Branch Chairman, Engr. Aniebiet Udoh MNSE, appreciated all members present for attending the meeting. He encouraged all present to contribute during the course of the meeting and used the opportunity to introduce Engr. (Dr.) Abdulrasheed Babalola, MNSE who recently got re-elected into the National Excos during the KADA 2018.
On matters arising, Engr. Hassan mentioned that work on the Engineering centre has been put on hold till a site inspection is carried out by Engr. Imaobong Inyang, FNSE who has not been avialable in the State for a while. He announced that the branch's planned visit to Ibom power plant in Ikot Abasi had been moved to a later date in January 2019 which is to be decided in the next Excos meeting. The YeFoN coordinator, Mr. Emmanuel Adenola gave a report on the Young Engineers and informed the members present that a framework has been put in place for the Secondary School Assistance Program and is proposed to start when the schools resume in January.
Engr. (Dr.) Abdulrasheed Babalola, MNSE was asked to give a report on the National Engineering Conference and Annual General Meeting hosted by Kaduna branch. Engr. Babalola, who is the Outgoing Chairman of the host branch and also a member of Eket branch, thanked the branch for her support in ensuring he was re-elected as part of the National Excos and said he hopes the branch could improve on her Group Dynamics performance in the future.
Engr. Sunday Nchor, MNSE was also called on to give a report on his findings on the plan to have an a exam center in Eket. Engr. Nchor said he was given adequate support by Engr. Babalola during KADA 2018 in carrying out the task. He primarily said that the branch has to produce a certain number of candidates consistently for exams before a center can be approved by the national body. Engr. (Prof.) Umana Itaketo, FNSE commended efforts by the branch to setup an exam center in Eket but added it takes a great level of seriousness to sustain an exam center and that the branch should consider well before setting one up. Multiple Fellow, Engr. T.J Manam, FNSE suggested that the branch should find out other requirements and really work towards achieving this goal as it will be a major feat for the branch. 
Engr. (Prof.) Umana also commended the efforts of the branch executives especially on their planned technical visits and also suggested the Syringe Factory, Coconut Refinery and Electric Meter Company all in Akwa Ibom state for possible visits.
The meeting ended with the national anthem and gave way for the Financial Planning Seminar anchored by Mrs. Otobore Olumoye, a Financial planning consultant.
